PR Rider Luke Jones will miss Round 4 of the British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park due to the continuing problem with his forearms. Luke will be travelling to Belgium on the 25th May to see the renowned surgeon Dr Claes. After a pressure test on his forearms to assess the amount of treatment required, Luke will then go into surgery the following day. After an overnight stay he will then return to the UK.

If all goes to plan Luke should be back on the PR Yamaha three weeks after surgery, giving him eight days to test on the bike and return to full fitness before Round 5 of the championship at Mallory Park.

Luke said, “Nobody likes the thought of surgery, but after talking to my family and other riders who have had it done, I feel it's the only solution to the problem I have. As I said after Oulton Park, it‘s something that I've had for a while but been able to cope with on the smaller bikes, but not a Superbike. I am just thankful that my family and the team are standing by me and helping me to get this problem sorted."

John Jameson commented, "As Luke said, no one likes the thought of surgery and we, as a team, did not want to force Luke into something he did not want to do. I spoke with Luke and his dad over a couple days after Oulton Park and we all agreed, he would have to have something done and the preferred way was to go and see Dr Claes. Once this course of action was agreed, we contacted Dr Claes to secure the earliest possible date for the operation ."

Julian Mosquera also added, "Luke has shown in the short time he has been with the team that he is a talent to be reckoned with and we will work with him through this difficult period, so he has a real chance to show his true potential on a Superbike. We want him out at Mallory if at all possible, which is realistic so long as there are no complications."
