Jones finishes in a buoyant mood after a great performance at Knockhill

An incident filled MCE British Superbike Championship at Knockhill, Scotland found Luke Jones battling through the pack passing no less than 12 riders to finish just outside the points. Given the weather conditions, all of the team were impressed with the fantastic performance and determination from the 21 year old rider as he crossed the finish line in a very respectable 16th place.

After the race Luke commented, “We’ve been struggling with set-up all weekend as the bike did not want to turn, which meant it was difficult holding my line going into the corners.  After our disappointing qualifying session we decided to go back to the drawing board and make some changes, including setting a softer spring, which proved to be the right choice.  During the race I had a few scary moments, as I was carrying more corner speed trying to preserve my tyres, but many of the guys in front were breaking as late as possible and squaring off the corners.”

When asked about his return to the BSB series after his operation he added. “I‘m feeling a little race rusty and I know, as a team, we  are playing catch up with respect to track time and collecting actual race data. Because of my arm pump issue we are not where we want to be at this part of the season, but that is all behind us and I am feeling really confident and can’t wait for Snetterton. “

PR Racing recorded the 11th fastest lap time in Race One and therefore, will start on the third row for the second race, which is to be held at Round 7, Snetterton.

End.
